Seeing as most people seem to cite The Sound of White Noise as the end of Anthrax, I'll start there...
It's a fecking classic. Not a filler in sight and had some of the most bruising tracks of their career. I want to tear people's brains out when I stick on Room For One More or Hy Pro Glo. Only was the closest you had to a mellow track. Black lodge may have been mainly clean guitars but it was darker than almost anything Anthrax had ever done. God bless Twin Peaks.

Stomp 442, admittedly, was a bit of a let down but it still had some fantastic songs on it. Random Acts of Senseless Violence and American Pompeii were the bollocks, but there were a few filler tracks starting to infiltrate their work. Songs like Bare, King Size and Drop the ball were not great.

Vol 8 was their career low but it still had Inside Out, Crush and Catharsis. However, I do kind of wish that they'd never released it. They don't sound happy or together and the album's so disjointed with rage-filled songs one moment and then happy little novelty tracks the next.

Considering their previous album was such a let down, We've Come For You All was an unbelievable return to form. Easily one of my favourite 'Thrax albums, I can't find a weak link on it anywhere.

If you're going to complain about the recent line-up changes, reunion etc then tough titties, basically. Every band has line-up problems at some point (look at Megadeth for the prime example, and more recently Exodus). So what if the reunion was motivated by money? I saw three of their reunion shows and every one of them was total value for money and some of the best shows I've seen in the last ten years.
So what if Corey Taylor is going to sing a few tracks and perform live with them? Listen to him sing (and he does have a bloody brilliant voice), and it's not too far removed from Bush anyway (ok, admittedly, that's a shit argument if you don't like John Bush to start with).

If they want to call it quits then that's fine. If they just want to carry on touring then that's fine by me too. If they want to record another album, then I trust them. I'm not going to stop believing in a band I've loved since 1984 just because of a few internal disputes and personnel changes.

Anthrax rule.
Not rule(d).
Rule.

Rant, well and truly over.
My fingers hurt.

Finished? For the record I love TSOWH and agree with you on the other three, but I can't help think that they are now flogging a dead horse.

We've Come For You All was a pretty solid album IMO. The whole reunion thing was just a bad idea.

I'm a bit confused here. Does it actually say anywhere that Corey is recording with Anthrax, or have you all just gone mad? The only thing I can see is that he's going to perform a few songs with them at that thing the article talks about. I can't really see what the big deal is about that...

It's not on that link but I did read on Blabbermouth that he was going to do some live shows and record a couple of songs. They'll probably turn up as bonus tracks or on movie soundtracks I reckon.

The John Bush -era really only released one album that I just couldn't listen to and that was Volume 8: The Threat Is Real. Even then, that had Inside Out on it which probably rates just outside my top ten favourite Anthrax songs. Even Stomp 442 had some fucking classics on it.

I can't believe you think the Joey line up was 'outstanding' live man. I mean, the gig at The Barrowlands was practically half full and the gig at The Academy was just fucking shite (barring Skeletons In the Closet).

I've seen Anthrax five times - two of the three with John Bush far outshone the two times I've seen them with Joey. I'll never forget John Bush doing a flip off the P.A. into the crowd, or them playing A.I.R.

The 3 shows I saw with Joey were unbastardbelievable. At Download 2005 they were awesome, received one of the best receptions of the weekend and the pit was total fucking chaos. Saw them at Wolverhampton the following year and that was just lunacy. It was full (quite possibly over) capacity and the place never stopped jumping until a good time after they'd even left the stage.
However, the best show of the three was at The Zodiac in Oxford. One of two "secret" shows they played after Download in 2005. The place was absolutely heaving (apparently, it had sold out in just a day), and the show itself was one of the best "intimate" gigs I've ever been to. The place may only hold a few hundred but it was crammed to bursting and so hot that (and I DO NOT exaggerrate here) I had to wring out my t-shirt and shorts after leaving the venue. Everybody had a grin like a particularly chuffed Cheshire Cat and the phrase "A good time was had by all" would be the understatement of the decade.

I've seen Anthrax with John Bush a further five times and every single show was a winner. The only problem at any of them was Scott's guitar crapping out for the first ten seconds during their show at the Astoria in 2004.

Basically, in the 8 times I've seen them, I have never seen Anthrax even come close to putting on a half-arsed show. One of the most consistently brilliant live acts I have ever seen.

Gah, me too!

Yeh I'm pretty sure Corey Taylor won't be doing any vocals on the new album thank god, but frankly they are in a right mess at the moment and someone needs to come in and stand on Scott Ian's big stupid bald head. Like a vocalist that can actually win the band back from him and Charlie and make it more of an upward unit...

I didn't mind Bush, but he wasn't a patch on Belladonna, which was shown EXTREMELY CLEARLY on "The Greater of Two Evils"... it should have been called "Why Joey was better than John" frankly..

Didn't think much of WCFYA... Safe Home? Fuck off.
