The first time I heard "Twilight in Olympus" I thought it sounded like Ronnie Dio singing for Yngwie Malmsteen! I stiil do tbh. It's a fantastic album,I've got V as well,so I'll probably check this new one out.We need some live dates over here as well.

Tried several times to get into Symphony X but they always left me cold. All very technical and such but I never really felt anything when I listened to them.
Paradise Lost is a brilliant album though. I love everything about it. So much so that I went back and re-listened to their older material.
So - did I change my mind about them?
Did I hell.

Symphony X - One truly great album, one back catalogue of tedious fretwankery.

You don't even like the odd track on those albums?

The occasional track does grab me but just not for very long. My mate's tried getting me into them time and time again but I just don't get on with the majority of their stuff.
I was as surprised as anyone when I found i liked the new album.

I'm checking out Symphony X on Youtube. I've avoided them for ages due to a pre-conceived notion of what they would be like and what I would think of them.

I was 100% right.

No offence, but this sounds terrible! Zero enjoyment, just wanking and no good riffs.

In all honesty? I can't remember. Their songs tend to fade into other so I just don't know which tracks I actually liked. I tend to like the more orchestral side of their music more, so quite possibly.
