The Ringside, 147 Beverley Road, Hull, HU3 1TS
doors 7.30pm - £3 otd - 16+ w/id & Adult
This gig is a mixed metal genre gig from hardcore to doom/sludge to metalcore and more. Headliners Exhibit A have just released their debut album Portrait In Rhyme on Rising Records after being featured heavily on Scuzz TV and scoring sessions for Radio 1's Rock Show as well as regular airplay on the show itself.
Exhibit A have been gaining some excellent reviews for their album and it would be great if Hull can show them how mental a Monday night is for a metal gig!!!
Support is a varied bunch with Hull hardcore lot Hang Them playing their last show (or so they claim) hot on the heals of a cracking set last Monday supporting Dead End & Bays.
There is another out of town visitor in Massacre of the Megafauna from South Yorkshire featuring Jim on guitar who was last seen round these parts playing with acoustic rock duo Zed's Dead who where massive favourites at Sharkeys metal night on a Wednesday. They also have possibly the best description of a band on myspace - just read this "...from the pre-apocalyptic desolation of South Yorkshire's killing fields emerge a hunting pack of 5 human men; armed with tools of bone, stone and metal, they scour the plains for prey... Brutal, vital and uncompromising, Massacre of the Megafauna bring devastating Metal, locking grooves and tasty, melodious musicianship together into a chilling howl of a battle-cry! Beast-Death Spear-core for the last days of the Anthropocene..."
Batallions are playing their debut gig and feature some very well known faces from the Hull metal scene - vocalist Phil is often seen behind the mixing desk at Ringside and previously lead the Centurians, been involved in bands with members of Scartorgy and puts on some massive metal gigs on as WC Shows, guitars are abused by Clatch, last seen making as much noise as possible in Sons of Magnitude (one of Hull's most underated bands) who also has appeared in bands like Trench and many other fearsome groups. Bass is handled by Matt who was also a member of Sons of Magnitude, Tench, Numb & more - how he doesn't destroy his bass with his aggressive and physical playing is a real wonder. Drums are battered by Kristian Barford, another veteran of the Hull music scene - I even remember a very young Kristian in a thrash band before he fell victim to the lure of properly heavy massive metal bands.
Doors are 7.30pm with first band 7.45pm - entrance is just £3 otd and age restriction is 16+ with ID/Adult
