How good are this band? Downward spiral is probably the best UK thrash song around at the moment!

But it's just a rock song, it has nothing 'thrash' about it? Great song, don't get me wrong, in fact i'm gonna play it again cos that riff is so happy. But it's not thrash. Not even a teeny weeny bit.
Is this another one of those threads i've totally got wrong?

I thought they were okay when I saw them. Songs weren't particularly memorable but listening to the myspace I like Hazchem.

We played a gig with them back in April, really cool guys. Thought they were a bit generic and not that adventurous, but they were very solid and enjoyable none the less. But listening to that Downward Spiral track now is proving to be very enjoyable indeed. Wouldn't call it the best UK Thrash song at all (that title goes to ZOMBIE HOLOCAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUST! BEING EATEN ALIIIIIVE!). Yes, a good band indeed.

I saw em both with Firestorm and Mutant and they were much better at the Mutant gig. I don't know if it was the venue or if they were just on form when playing with Mutant but they kicked fucking arse. I can see why people say it isn't thrash, it is pretty mid-paced. Regardless, a band that have a lot of genuine potential.

Re: Muted
Ancient thread, resurrected.
Muted were supporting Pagan Altar in a London pub this Saturday, and I was really impressed with them! They don't get much of a mention around these parts, but they were superbly tight, and their songs, although quite conventional in a mid-80s Metallica sort of way, seemed very well crafted with a good sense of melody. The guitarists in particular were shit hot!

Their myspace songs have a nice production to them as well, with good solos. Ruddy heck, 'Existed' is mental!
Shame about the band name, which I think doesn't really convey much and is easily confused with Mutant. Look out for them though; they really deserve to get on more bills in the London area!
(Also, it's funny reading some of the comments above saying "WAAAA it's not thrashy enough so I don't like it!" - haven't heard that sort of thing around here for a while.)
