Incubus - Serpent temptation

Postby Thrashface on Fri Aug 03, 2007 2:10 am

Anyone else share my morbid fascination with this album.

If you havn't heard it, download it here: http://www.thrashmageddon.com/Incubus-U ... t3594.html

It's one of the most crushing things you'll ever hear :rockdevil:

Anyone heard of the Incubus featuring Mike Browning?

And we won't go onto the awful alt rock band!

Good call, my son. Although I think Beyond The Unknown is even more crushing. Faster, more precise and much harder drum sound than Serpent. Some of the best riffage ever known.

You NEED Beyond The Unkown. It's horrid.

I believe that Nuclear Blast released both Serpent and Beyond on one CD back in around 2000. I'm sure it'll be on that eBay thing.

Yeah, I just download it - It's well good! Dunno about it being faster than the first album though.
Yeah that reissue is meant to sound really shit, or so I've heard.

I also prefer "Beyond The Unknown". The track "On The Burial Ground" on that is excellent.
The band kept going after that, you know, although they had to change their name because of the funky Incubus. They became Opprobrium and released an excellent album called "Discerning Forces" in 2000.

Indeed. Opprobrium had their moments, but Discerning didn't adequately follow on from Beyond for me. Just wasn't memorable enough.

What a rubbish name-change.

I much prefer the debut lp to the 2nd. I always thought it was more "thrash" if you know what i mean

The reissue had re-recorded vocals too by the way!!

Only the 'Serpent Temptation' vox were re-recorded, 'Beyond...' is the original I'm sure...

both great albums, although the re-release of Serpent is pretty poopy, got the original though, fucking face death kill, same goes for Beyond... plus it has some better riffage and much more cutting produciton!!!!

Great band!!!!
