Thrashing Rage second release MAYHEM

Postby Immortalicide on Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:50 pm

Ok, just a sneak bit of news for you guys here, but dont tell anyone!
I have been in contact with MAYHEM and the second release on my label is looking likely to be the ultra-rare tracks from the split cassette only release that was sold through hvelte by euronymous himself.
The split featured the mid 80s norweigen death metal band VOMIT, although these tracks wont be on the lp. The mayhem tracks were recorded in november 86 ( and i have had them since early 87 myself!!) and include an amazing version of into the crypt of rays, as well as other mayhem classics, and even a stolen metallica jam in one part!!.
This recording actually pre dates the deathcrush album and the deathrehearsal demo.
I am not going for a conventional black vinyl lp with this release but if quotations come back ok, then it will be something special.
I know black metal isnt the forte of all of you here, but the mayhem style of the time was 95% influenced by hellhammer, bathory and venom anyway.

I thought it was going to be a double sided live album at the Vic?

heres the low down as i have had confirmation from the band today.
666 copies, all handnumbered and with handstamped certificate. The first 111 copies on red / black splattered vinyl, the rest on black, but all will be 1 sided 12" with the b side being lazer etched. There will be a full colour double sided insert too. ETA 4 weeks (although things always have a tendancy to go tits up with dates lol)

i think they were ok with me doing it as i contacted them and sorted out a deal with them, even though the recording isnt covered by copyright, and i could have just done it anyway. I never wanted to be just another bootlegger. Now, this will be an official mayhem release.

After numerous delays, i recieved the test pressings today, and have approved the them. The actual details are now as follows:
666 copies, 100 of which will be black and blue, the remainder black and red. They will all come in full printed LP sleeves. All with handnumbered certificate and all lazer etched on the B side.

Track listing is as follows :
Chainsaw Gutsfuck
Necrolust
Deathcrush
Into the Crypt Of Rays
Blues Of Death (jam session and general fucking about)

Only 5 test pressings were made, all individually numbered and handstamped, with certificates.

Cover and label design was done by our own Mr Craig Watson, and a pretty damn good job he has done too. Official release date is 9th June, although date of delivery is scheduled for 27th may, but i will be on holiday.

Cost of the 100 black and blue ones is £14 each post paid in the uk, and the black and red copies are £12 post paid in the uk. (bear in mind these were pretty expensive to get produced, and i have had to send a quota to the band as payment)

Black Fucking Metal

Probably won't get a copy myself, but my mate Brian is a Mayhem fan,and rather more importantly,he loves his rare vinyl.I'll make sure he finds out about this.

Sounds great, I'm not a massive Mayhem fan but I can never say no to a nice vinyl so I'll be getting one :)
