RIP. Caught him once with Lizzy and twice with Grand Slam. A fine performer.

got the Live and Dangerous DVD for Crimbo. There's a statue of him just off Grafton Street in Dublin. The American tourists think it's Michael Jackson.

I've seen that statue! Paul from Gama Bum gave me and Jamie a little tour of Dublin in the new year of 2010, and that was one of the bits. It's very cool indeed.
Uncle Phil was a magnificent master of the Lunge, and for this (and a few good tunes that he wrote) he will always be joint The Best Man In The World with Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Dio and Arthur Brown. I salute him with my cock of rock.

Bloody get it James, it's bloody amazing!
Thin Lizzy are actually really bloody underrated I think. For a real thick slice of Thin Lizzy, I would recommend everyone purchase the albums Bad Reputation and Black Rose immediately.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I mean in the sense that they don't seem to get lauded anywhere near as highly as bands like Zeppo, Purple and such like. People of such rocking stature like you and me and every Irish person realises how amazing Thin Lizzy are, but they don't seem to be as widely recognised as the best band in the world, but they should be. They bloody well should be.

definitely worth the 12 or so quid from Amazon. Comes with a cheeky bonus live cd too.

I think Thin Lizzy are underrated because they peaked when punk was taking over and came to look old fashioned very quickly. I guess they kind of get (unfairly imo) lumped in as a kind of fun but substanceless AC/DC type party rock band.
Best albums for me are Johnny the Fox, Jailbreak, Black Rose and of course L+D. Some of the very early stuff (before the twin guitars) is really good too.

I think you're right. However, that is a completely inaccurate bit of pigeon-holing. They're of an entirely different class (though not necessarily quality, if that makes sense) to 'DC.
