It looks wrong otherwise

Thats the initial reaction but I tried to imagine that had they chosen the name Megadeath since the beginning, would that now look right or be better instead of Megadeth?

Get me?

I do think Megadeth looks silly actually, in a way that Def Leppard and Led Zeppelin somehow don't.

Actually, I think it's quite a shit name in general!

I think it's another example of mysterious linguist metal silliness. I guess it's ok as it is.

You woulda thought a lyrical genius like David Mustaine would be able to spell though.

Mustaine spouted off something about 'deth' being the phonetic spelling of 'death' and all he wanted was what you 'read' is what you get.

The arsenal of megadeath...

The arsenal of Megadeth...

I guess it's the same as Led Zeppelin. Does Led mean anything other than Light Emitting Diode?

Yeah, same here. It actually put me off listening to them for years!

Random fact: Pink Floyd were briefly called Megadeath in the 1960s.

Megadeth is a fucking stupid name no matter how you spell it. However, they put most of the more sensibly named bands to shame musically with Rust In Peace, so more power to them.

They decided to spell it like that so the Americans didn't think they were called Lead (as in guitar) Zeppelin. Not quite sure how that works, seeing as lead is spelled the same even in their wacky version of our language, but that's why they did it.

And the symmetry is back.

There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
