Anybody else really rate this guy as a director?
Obviously Reanimator is my favourite film ever but the dude has also made Dagon, From Beyond, Castle Freak... even Fortress wasn't too bad.

To my mind he's been one of the most consistent horror directors out there. Granted he's never made a masterpeice (like John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper or Romero) but he's also never then turned rubbish and made a slew of crap (like John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper or Romero)

I can't wait for House of Reanimator....

A fourth Re-Animator movie! Get in.
Used to love Stuart Gordon's films but his recent(ish) output has been dreadful.
Can't believe the guy who gave us Re-Animator, The Pit and the Pendulum, Dolls and (one of my all time favourite horror films) From Beyond was responsible for such dross as Space Truckers, Castle Freak and the complete shitfest that was Dagon.

Brian Yuzna is another forgotten director. His sequel to Re-Animator was fun, Beyond Re-Animator was a worthy addition (even if only for giving us the lovely Elsa Pataky), The two Dentist films were suitably cringeworthy and Society was a total hoot. FX guy Screaming Mad George is a legend!

You didn't like Dagon? I thought it was great, well paced, atmospheric and with very good effects for its budget.
I liked Castle Freak too but not Dolls. I can't really dislike anything with Combs and Crampton.

Dagon was alright but it had the wrong title the H.P Lovecraft story it was based on was Shadow Over Innsmouth...

I really enjoyed from beyond and it had the black guy from the orginal dawn of the dead in it!

Stuart Gordon also did a very good adaptation for the masters of horror series doing another Lovecraft story this time, Dreams in the Witch house i think its on TV links or one of those sites...check it out rat face men are always cool!

I hated every second (apart from the naked sacrifice, obviously). Poorly acted, no budget load of old tosh.

Dreams in the Witch House was a decent MOH story. Not the best but pretty good.

Ken Foree was the chap from DOTD and From Beyond (he also briefly appears in the remake of DOTD as a priest on TV). I've met him a couple of times and he's an absolute gent. He remembered me and the wife from the previous time (a year before) and was just as nice as they come. Big fella, mind. Got a photo somewhere of him holding my daughter when she was 18 months old. Bit of a size difference...
While I'm on the subject of Dawn of the dead, George Romero and Tom Savini are nice chaps too.

Romero's looking really old. As polite and old fashioned as they come though.

He was a bit grumpy with people not buying his book and just asking for photographs. In fact, just as me and the wife were about to ask him for a photo, we heard him say to (presumably) his agent "no more photos. If they want a picture they buy the book". Quick as a flash, the wife was over and said "Just one with my daughter. Please". He looked as if he was going to say no but smiled at my little girl, called me over, said he was tired (which was understandable) and from then on was very polite.
