yeah if it was condensed with all good bits it would make an average episode by new series standards, poor show by the glory days of 5-8. its a shame how the Simpsons has fallen so disgracefully over the years, I went in not expecting anything great but was greeted with what was for me the final nail in an already half buried, once legendary cartoon series.
if you really feel you must see it i suggest, nay implore you all to just download it or watch some form of pirate (which i usually do not condone) as this is not worth wasting your money to see!

I think it has to be said that it is through pandering to desires like yours that the film falls down!
I watched it this evening, and found it reasonably entertaining, but I felt it was really hamstringed by the need to cameo as many characters as possible, leaving little room for a witty script or original storyline.
I think they were also going for a "bigger picture" storyline by giving Springfield some sort of nation-wide relevance and having the family go to Alaska - these over-the-top touches are not what makes the actual episodes appealling.
My biggest moan though is not with the plot, or this or that character's omission, but with the style of humour itself - it seems to be geared more towards a general viewer than to someone who already knows and loves the Simpsons (ironic, as a review I read claimed it would please fans but not convert any new ones).
What I mean by this is that there is a great deal more slapstick comedy than your average episode, which can only be averagely funny at best (unless done absolutely hilariously, which it isn't). Also, Homer just comes across as a dumb bufoon a lot of the time, rather than the likeable, unpredictable guy he is at his funniest moments. There is too much obvious, one line humour and not enough WIT that makes the episodes so classic. The odd great Wiggum line does not really save it.
I am left feeling that it could have been condensed into a single episode's length and been better for it, and should have followed a more down-to-earth yet creative storyline. The main complaint though is that a lot of the things that make the characters such favourites with fans are sacrificed in order to make it more of a slapstick, 'mainstream' experience, and this is most obvious with Homer.
Still a pretty enjoyable film I guess, and I'd choose to watch it again over Die Hard 4 any time.

Totally agree. It was weak sauce. The more I think of it the more I hate it, they really fucked-over their fans. I could have done a better film.

Well, considering that the skateboard sequence was one of the better parts of the film, I would have to disagree!

Even if it was Bart's penis.

Saw it a few days ago....but I guess everything has been said about this film already....there simply isnt that much to say.
Why would you make film of a series that has done EVERYTHING possible only to turn it into a crappy mainstream picture, when there obviously isnt any decent ideas left in the writer's mind.
At least some Disco Stu and that German kid from the school would have been awesome.
...oh well, fukk it.

All of the new Simpsons episodes are shit and un-funny. The last one I saw had Homer in some shitty band camp learning to become a rock star. It wasn't funny at all. The older ones were hilarious - up there with the best cartoons of all time, but these new ones... Fuck off.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but if it's as shit as the new episodes that they keep on making, then I don't want to!

SPIDER SCHWWWWWIIENNNNNNNNNNNN!
Seriously, those crazy Wacken-going germans screamed that every 2 minutes. It wasn't funny the first time they said it, and every other person seemed to be wearing a spider-schwein t shirts. When we asked them why they found it so funny, we gathered its probably more funny because the German dub of the movie probably mixes an English and a German word.
Ha. Ha.

"BEER AND VIOLENCE, BEAT UP THE FARMERS!"

Oh god yeh..
Well I saw it today, and it was a big fat meh really. Like an overlong recent episode, funny in places, but mainly pretty disappointing.
That cast of thousands thing was a bit overhyped - true, every simpsons resident in the film has been in a previous episode which was pretty clever, but none of these characters got much of a proper role at all.
Where the cock were the side stories?!
