Does anyone here ever buy underground zines anymore? I know the rise of the net in the last 10 years has led to the reduction in fans making their own paper zines, but for me, i just love to be able to sit down and read a well written (often poorly written lol) article. When was the last time that you actually purchased a real zine at a gig or through the post???

I actually collect old zines and have a 1000 or so in my spare bedroom, it is so good to grab one ive not read for years or just got hold of and read an interview with bands that never got the exposure in KERRAP or Metal Hammer etc. Last nite i read an interview with an extreme german black metal band from 1994 called OBFERBLUT and the day before i read a copy of Sledgehammer Press from 1983 where hellhammer were interviewed. Priceless !!!!!!!

I still buy them, but only Punk zines. Still a few good ones doing the rounds. I used to do one for a few years, but got kinda jaded with it. I planned to do #8 a couple of years ago, but never got round to it. Maybe someday...

What zine did you do??

I'm gonna make a Pokemon zine because I love Pokemon.

I'd buy it.

The first issue will be all about Pikachu and how he cries if you try to force him to evolve.

There isnt really anywhere i could get a zine here and to be fair i am not going into London for the sake of a magazine.

Most of the info i get is off bands websites, magazines are only really worth it for reviews and interviews.

Underground mail orders still sell em, though i know what you mean. Ian and I used to walk round at gigs flogging our zine, but it has been ages since ive seen anyone do that!!!

Well I will have a look around on google then, got any recommendations?

i don't really see the point in zines with the internet and all.

I still read zines, favourites are the Sinister Flame, Devoured Death, Gallery of the Grotesque and especially Morbid Tales.

Metal Brew has the 'Brew View'. It's like a local scene report for bands that we know from Metal Brew and beyond. Last issue was a thrash special. In terms of a zine it is absolute shite but it does work as a little mini-advert for all the bands and the event itself. PM Jamie (Resilience Records) and he will probably be able to help you out. He sends it out with copies of B&T and chucks 'em at a couple of places in London.

I used to sell it through various DIY Punk distros, not only in this country, but in America as well as Europe. I even got letters from people in Japan who'd read it. Amazing how far your zine travels.

That sounds wicked. Anti-sect are fucking awesome. I'd definitely check it out if you started it again. Also, if I could help in anyway (fuck knows how...), i'd be willing

I really love seeing a zine that has been lovingly put together, they take such a large amount of effort to actually get together and this is always apparent in the passionate way in which they will cover their subject matter. If i had enough money so i could live then i would get my hands on as many different zines as i could, they generally make for extremely good reads and are another way in helping to keep scenes alive.

Tom, whats the deal with Thing King? (i think thats what you had called it!). i would love to see some more dedicated Thrash zines from inside the UK, or covering UK bands.
