I've gone for the Exorcist, as it is such a great concept and has such a great aura about it. Nightmare was close second, and hellraiser a very close 3rd.

I've had to go for Hellraiser as out of that list I've only seen that and The Exorcist. To be honest I've never been much of a horror movie fan, but that's probably because I've only seen shitty modern day horror films which are nearly always shit. The only newer ones I've enjoyed are Saw (the first one) and The Descent. Oh, and Shaun of the Dead, that's basically the greatest movie ever made.
But I should really watch more classic goodness. The Evil Dead films were a revelation, I loved them so much. And Hellraiser was great, I saw that many moons ago, but I still remember the madness of it all. The second film was a bit hilarious for my liking though, and I nerver bothered with the other sequels. I really really want to see the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it looks great.

Same for me really. I mean.. open water 2?!
I watched the exorcist though. That scared the bejesus out of me, until i realised some time after that a little girl in makeup was shouting "DIE IN HELL YOU CUNTS", whilst her head spun and she puked everywhere.
Seconded for Shaun of the Dead best film ever.

spent last night trying to chuck my bird

I'm a massive horror film junkie and although I think some great movies are missing from here its gotta be Hellraiser off that list. Conceptually its far superior to most of the others, it has no exposition so retains a lot of mystique and is fantastically made - the sequence of Frank reforming still looks still great after all this time and the way the lighting etc.changes when the cenobites appear is simple yet so atmospheric. I think its one of the greatest horror flicks of all time.
Elm Street a close second, the rubbish ending spoils it!
Day is in my opinion the weakest of Romero's trilogy, you can tell he hasn't been able to go through with everything he wanted to do as the film is dead jumbled and confused.

Day. Classic by all rights.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Yeah there is no tension at all in that film. It is wank.

Anyone who thinks the original TCM is 'wank' has missed the point by fucking miles.
The remake is wank, the original is excellent.

I have only seen the first and did not miss the point, it is just poorly executed and fails to deliver.
I do not watch gore-porn, those sort of films are gay.

It's Day of the Dead. No contest. It's not even a poll, if you click anything else you are wrong!!!
Day and Dawn of the Dead are fucking amazing. It's not just the zombies, they're depressing as hell, and everyone ends up hating each other.
Some of the best quotes from any film ever are in Day of the Dead:
"What does that mean Rickles?"
"You're a fucking throwback, you've been spending too much time underground... But don't worry Steel, throwbacks all got big dicks"
"JELLO, That's how the spicks say hello!"
"Steel, knock some sense into that jungle bunny head"
"LISTEN, YOU MUST LISTEN"
"Listen to this"
DaDaDaDaDa!!!
Classic!
