At what point do you consider a person to be an alcoholic!
i drink a lot considering my height and body mass, and alcohol has ruined a fair section of my life! yet i love to drink! im more of an angry drunk i think! an i am seriously considering giving it up all together, but is there anyone else that has found themself in the same situation?
i dont wanna stop drinkin coz ive met some great people whilst being pissed out my face. im not a full on angry drunk coz i only really seem to get angry when im faced with people i thought where freinds, but then end up being cocks! but after ive got angry i end up saying dick head things to people that really dont deserve it!
should i stop drinking?

I have known, and know people who have known "proper" alcoholics, and the division has been transcended when you cannot give it up. By that i dont mean for a few weeks, as it is common knowledge that many alcoholics will give it up for a period of time to proove they arent alkies!
As far as the way you behave when drunk, that is a different matter, and im sure each and every one of us can relate to that. Luckily when im drunk, im just silly, although i have made an arse of myself with females i know when inebriated
though usually an apology and my charm sorts it out the next day
Could you go out to the pub and have 1 pint then go onto soft drinks? If the answer is a resounding no, and you try and always fail, maybe there is a problem, not necerssarily alcohilism though.

If you constantly depend on alcohole to get you through the day then i'd consider stopping.
How often do you drink?

I happen to know someone close to me who is an alcoholic, and the worse thing that the person is realy nice but has cause some problems with being unrealble with things, through drink and being arested for passing out in the middle of the road after drinking too much. It is sad to see people in such a state. I am not going into much details about the person cause it is not to really say much.

Ask Calum from Amok if I'm an alcoholic. He's the only one who could say truthfully.
The last time I had a night off was in Tallinn on the 5th of August because I was so hungover that I could barely hold a glass without dropping it. The minimum I'll have a night is about three glasses of wine, but have recently done 50+ pints a week and I've probably had about 20 nights off this year.

As my friends will know, i drink probably even less than this. i do enjoy getting drunk (we are the binge drink nation!), but i dont enjoy being drunk everyday and i dont feel the need to drink alcohol every night of the week. i enjoy the taste of a good beer and can understand why a lot of my friends will drink everyday, but if i'm not drinking to get drunk i often don't feel the need to drink alchohol. Also, it takes me very little to get very drunk (we are talking a handful of pints.. i'm a serious lightweight) so i have to drink at a slower speed than others if we are out on the piss, or i will be alover the place before i even know it.
my first ever job was working at an offlicence (i'm pretty sure that it was illegal, i was only 15-16) and seeing the alcoholics come in every single day wasn't really a perk of the job. i heard some great stories from tramps, but also watched as guys would ruin themselves. it was very sad. i would agree with 'Mort and say that there is a very true division between saying "oh i'm an alcoholic" because you like to get really drunk, and actually being phsyically addicted to alcohol.

Ha, you should see the drunks in Glasgow. It's still the worst I've seen. I remember there was a guy with his arse hanging out his wheelchair, can of Tennent's Super in hand, shouting at Rick Hunolt. That was funny.
I hate all these self-loathing health-related terms for Britons, e.g. the Binge Drinking Nation:
a) Britain is not a nation; it's a state.
b) Every single source of enjoyment in life is being besmirched: alcoholism, fast food, binge drinking, drinking wine, smoking, second hand smonking, watching TV. I don't like where it's going because people should have the right to choose to do things even if they know it's detrimental to their own health.

I'm very similar to Jamie on this one, although I'm not quite as much of a "lightweigh", i very nearly am. Mainly because I'm taller. But anyway, because I drive to the pub most of the time anyway, I hardly drink. People sometimes say to me "why do you drive to the pub all the time etc etc bloody hell", but it doesn't bother me in the slightest, I enjoy it because it's a bit of social fun and I can hang out with my friends which is the greatest thing. Obviously it's good fun to get really drunk every now and again, but I would find it ridiculous doing that every day, I don't understand how people can do it, it woud ruin me completely! Even at uni I didn't drink that much. Well, I probably did, but I small drinking on a small-scale, I didn't get really drunk that often.
If you really are seriously worried about being a full-blown alcoholic, maybe you should go and see someone about it. On the other hand, if you're just slightly concerned that you drink a bit too much, just try drinking less. If you find it a big problem to do that, then as Mort said early, maybe there is a problem. But that's just my opinion, I don't know anything real about alcoholism to be able to tell you anything properly. I hope some of what we've said helps you though!

I don't drink. It tastes of shit and too much of it makes you forget the band you watched last night. And you fall over a lot. And it's more expensive than Powerade, which is much nicer.

Holy shit. Cherry Powerade. Drink of the fucking gods! I chug that magic juice while playing Street Fighter and listening to Hardcore punk with my friends, fun time!
I do love getting really pissed and thrashing around though, so fucking shine.

I drink a little more in the summer, cuz i like a nice cold beer to refresh, but i often have fruit juice or lemon and lime too. I went about 2 years without drinking at all when i was going to the gym on a regular basis, and i stopped eating rubbish too. If the doctor told me tomorrow that i could never drink alcohol again, i wouldnt really be that bothered.

Getting drunk is fun but I don't go out of my way to drink myself silly. A beer while watching some t.v. for me is nice just because it tastes nice etc...
I wouldn't be that annoyed if someone said "no more alcohol for you ever" I'd just shrug and have a cup of tea while wearing a comfortable jumper.
Tbh I much prefer smoking weed to drinking, it gives me something which alcohol does not.
