Converting audio bitrates

Right I recently got some hefty mp3 files which are too large . Could anyone give me a method of converting them too 112/128kbs.

I've looked all over but can't seem to find anything.

EAC & Razorlame?

Decode back to WAV and re-encode them to your pref. biterate. Quality will be lost obviously, have a google for the 2 programs I mentioned.

Media Monkey works swell for this. It's free, great player, and can convert most files to whatever you want.

Ok cheers guys i just found a rather good programme it's called Razorlame. It's freeware and you just need lame and it converts in like 2 seconds a song, but you lose your ID3 Tagging.

dBpowerAmp is good for converting, and you retain your ID3 tags unlike Dethhead's suggestion

I use Xliisoft WMA to MP3 converter. The name's crap, coz it does MP3 to MP3 conversions as well and doesn't screw up the ID3 tags. It's not freeware, but serials and keygens are readily available if you know where to look.

If you're on Windows XP Media Center, it has a bundled media converter somewhere. Never tested it so I don't know if it works with MP3 to MP3 conversions.

I'll give that media monkey a try i thinks too as Last FM will only accept our songs on 128kbps. I'm a bit of an Itunes whore but that does fuck all in the way of credible conversions.

So,it coverts MP3's to MP'3s. Does it change beer into beer as well?
