The latest news is police telling people to send in their holiday snaps from Portugal to see if they can find anyone out of place in the picture. Well...

I can see a few suspects there..

This whole issue is ludicrous. The fact that a couple of super-rich people have put together a multi-million reward is just mental. Obviously, it is a horrible thing and the parents desere our sympathy but the media attention is largely unhelpful and is, to be honest, complete bullshit in terms of sincerity.

Earlier along some people were saying that loads more die in Iraq or the Gaza Strip or where ever, compared to the high school massacre. I will just mention this - they are warzones and so deaths are a given. These things are headline news at first but fade away and now Madeline is doing much the same. I'm not saying the wars aren't tragic and unjust and serious but a war is a far more divisive issue than the loss of a little girl (and a massacre doesn't happen every day in an American suburb, and is equally as unifying as a tragedy). However, that reward money would be far more useful in a warzone and would actually end up being used. Maybe that's why they did the reward anyway, knowing no one would claim it.

I never fell for the Diana thing. She was dragged through the mud in the papers before her death and loads of people thought she was scum. Then she dies and amazingly she's a hero. A couple of years ago I said i a seminar she was a little better than posh whore and most the group booed me. Literally.

I watched that for the first time about a week ago. Jokes.

As for the mass booing, no one said it was too soon but one girl did get really indignant. "I think she was a great role model for people and you can't call her a whore." It was after the BBC did that 100 greatest Brits ever or whatever. I also slammed Churchill, that didn't go down to well either.

I was a bit too young at the time to actually care at all about what was going on, it didn't mean anything to me. But I know what you mean, it's really annoying when people suddenly become heroes just because they are dead. Take Kurt Cobain for example. Basically, Nirvana in my opinion are very average. I find them very boring and quite talentless, and they're songs are very unexceptional. I don't particularly dislike them that much, but I don't really like them at all, at the same time. Yet in saying that, some people would call me blasphemous for saying this because of what hapened to Kurt Cobain. He decided to kill himself, boo fucking hoo. No one else killed him. How does that make him a hero? And would Nirvana still have the reputation they do if Cobain had lived and carried on making average music?

That's just one example of course. On the other hand, you get someone like Dimebag who actually did die in tragic circumstances and didn't need to be killed to become a legend, he already was one. Same goes for Steve Irwin (in my opinion anyway!). But when certain people die, the masses feel obligated to laud them as a hero to merely make themselves feel better, and it's annoying.

You mentioned Churchill, there's another one. I bet that so many people who hold Churchill as a British hero know nothing about him. I don't know much myself (apart from the obvious), and so I reserve judgement somewhat, but I have had conversations with one of my friends about him where I have been informed of what he was like before the war started, and if more people were aware of that (if it is indeed true), they wouldn't hold him in such high esteem as they do.

Anyway, back to the point. Paedophiles are very bad men, stay away from them.

.

Highly doubt it. I can't remember what Cobain said before popping himself, but it gave me the impression that he knew that if he took his life, he would be more popular
