Well, it may be a crappy free CD, but I can't think of a better or more effective way of getting music to a shitload of people.
Does anyone else throw their free CD away? Personally I love the Terrorizer CDs. Thanks to them I discovered a whole world of underground(ish) metal I would have had no idea about otherwise.

Why not spend £400 on making a great deal more copies of your demo, and then actually gigging to promote it?

meh...I guess if you can afford it its ok. Kind of an ego trip too. Our friends in Plague did it, it got thema record deal...(which went completely tits up, but never mind) and an article in the magazine. Worth it? Yeah.
