Re: Savatage
A band I've meant to check out for a long time, their album 'Sirens' is supposedly pretty good.

I like the live album tribute to the (great) guitarist. They're a little bit cheesy in places I guess, but have some cracking tunes and some lovely classic HM riffs.

Re: Savatage
I loved everything up to "Gutter Ballet", but when "Streets:A Rock Opera" came out I went right off them. I saw them on that tour and they were horrendous. The times I saw them before that, they killed.
Prior to "Sirens" they released the "City Beneath the Surface/The Whip" 7", when they were called AVATAR, which is a classic. I have a bootleg with some AVATAR demos knocking about. Not all of it was all that heavy though!

I love savatage, Streets: a rock opera is a classic and everyone seems to like it, even those who don't generally get my music tastes. Hall of the mountain king and gutter ballet are also brilliant albums. Jon oliva is a very charming and funny bloke, although he looks very different from twenty years ago, his voice is unchanged. He is still busy with 'jon oliva's pain'
Streets was played almost in it's entirety at cheltenham prog power in 2006.

Seems like he didn't read my post

I HATE it.

It was probably because I was brought up with the old Savatage sound, which is what I like, and I don't like stuff bordering on AOR.
