We are at the stage now where we want to get our album in some cd players.
What is troubling me is finding the best way to do it. Has anyone ever dealt with a label that doesn't just bassically put you on the end of some sales list and actually pushes the release (eg - advertising in magazines and other releases) if you have who are they?
DIY distro at gigs is a must (and good old fashioned "send me a fiver in the post" method) I would say but has anyone used online distro like the new myspace shop or itunes. How do you even get on itunes anyway?.
I dunno just rambling innit.

I don't really know (there's a fucking helpful answer). STD, being the crazy, generous bastards we are, have made our two releases so far free at request or chucked em at random places (anarchist bookfair, gigs etc). However, the next release is going to be a proper album and Jamie is taking it fairly seriously. I think on the whole though, it will be myspace, 'send some cash' and the RR site. However, I don't know how Jamie would be with other bands because, as he said in the Terrorizer mag, doing the Bnagers and Thrash thing nearly killed him...
"And what about the churches and all their wealth
There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"

Only nearly killed him? He'll be back.

i'd love to put out loads more releases... unfortunately i have no money... and once these fucking vinyls are ready i will have NO money, so i really have to shift these mothers before i can do anything else really. i'd like to get some adverts in mags and other wonderful things, but at the moment its all far too expensive and the costs of doing it far outway the money i will actually get back. i'm hoping as time goes on i will be able to start to build up to doing stuff 'properly' but for the time being its myspace and gigs for me!

I'd say most established well known labels are good at actually pushing releases (hence why they're established and well known) but to push it on your own you need a shite load of money. You could always hunt for simply a distribution deal, try Copro, although i think they deal primarily (for a good deal) in bulks of say 30,000 copies. Or plastichead?
