How? I love Death Metal but there are so many limitations on any extreme metal that aren't there with Thrash, unless you get into Prog or experimental territory.

no there arent. Theres far more variety in death and black metal than thrash.

Lot's of thrash bands is better than hardly any.

I appreciate what you're saying but people shouldnt accept poor music just because it's thrash.

I think its fair enough if people think meltdown are shite.just remember that they ( like a few of the new thrash bands) have been snaped up very young.Lets see how they sound after there first album.

the reson there snapped up while there young is couse its easier for a lable to controll them, and controll the sound off the music they make, whitch limits potentiol for the band to grow there own unique sound, but maximises profits with the masses who dont want good musicanship and just want some generic garbage. notsaying this is true for all bands that get signed but it happenes to many of them

what a pile of shite. Why would a label want a band to sound generic? It would just make there job harder.labels look for bands with a unique sound or edge so its easy for people to distiguish who the band are and give them an identity.

*shrugs*

Everyone has their opinion. Mine is that the vocal and rhythmic dynamics are more open in Thrash metal because the constraints as to 'Thrash' is are more flexible than Death or Black Metal.

Obviously not counting the half million subgenres at least, although I do believe I've already pointed that out.

Why would a label want a band to sound generic?

Do you really not see why a label would want a band to sound generic? You should have a better grasp of that than anyone here, to be fair.

Ie: why no label wants to sign heretic.Becuse they sound like about 300 other bands in the uk.
Its like the kooks or the pigon wankers and all that indie guff ( or any style of music) thay all sound sort of the same but each one has a wee personality thing (ie a banjo player or they all were yellow shirts) that makes them diffrent. If heretic had harmonica solos in there songs they'd get picked up like that. But there you go.

Care to give any examples of who we sound like? I'd be surprised if you could name three or five, let alone three hundred. Not a lot of people agree with what I say on here and there's a fair few who don't like what we do, but I would be willing to bet that the general consensus is that we're not your typical thrash band - whether that be for better or for worse. I like how you automatically went for Indie... whenever a metal head is trying to prove a point about generic bands they always go straight for Indie because it's normally the genre they know absolutely nothing about.

I'd give another listen to Heretic dude, they're not what they used to be.
