I saw Shutter Island while I was in Scotland, and thought it was fudding brilliant. And terrifying! Literally one of the most terrifying films I've ever seen. The bit in Ward C was amazing, and one of the most brilliantly directed sections of a Scorcese film ever. Actually one of the most terrifying bits was near the beginning was one DiCaprio walked past the scraggly old lady with the blue eyes. She was fucking scary! The twist was definitely not too surprising, but I didn't mind so much, it was still a good story, and I loved the way the whole film was made in a Hitchcock-style old fashioned joy - which is why I didn't it was a bit of an old fashioned twist. It just had a great feel, was amazingly directed, and was just sooo tense, it was almost a relief when the film was over! And also, I have to say, although he's been in some great films in his recent days, I've never seen DiCaprio act so well before, he's definitely gone up in my estimation of him as an actor after this film, his performance was amazing. Very very good indeed. And the music was incredible. Bloody incredible. Brilliant. Scorcese is a fucking genius!
