As we own the copyright to our songs and want to distibute it for free we asked massive torrent site mininova if they would host our album and endorse us to make thier site 'a bit more legal'. They put us as a featured artist and have now moved us to the metal section.

Scince putting our album on the site yesterday we've just had 1,500 copies of the album downloaded!

In the space of 24 hours the debut h.o.dalbum has been downloaded an incredible 2011 times from mininova and torrentportal.com.

This must be some sort of record for a band with no record deal/promotion/dicks

As H.O.D are giving their album away for free, they can not possibly do themselves or the metal scene any harm at all.

if you just want to be famous, then yeah, undercutting everyone else and giving away all your music is a great way to go about it.

H.O.D really don't want the fame, nor the money. This is a hobby for the guys, nothing more. They are not undercutting anyone because they are not in direct competition with anyone who sells their music for money. If people got the album and used it as a drinks coaster, H.O.D could not really give a fuck. They all have decent jobs and this is just something to do at the weekends to kick back really, if people dig it then all the better, but to be realistic, even the likes of machine head and bands of a similar level don't make a great deal of money, sure they get to travel the world and have a great time doing it, but they still go home after the tour and carry on with their engineering jobs to feed their families, thrash metal is not about being famous.
