Thats a pile of shite dude.Evile have sold about 1500 albums in the uk and enter the grave has been downloaded at least 3 times that.
I think downloading does help new bands( all should have a few downloadable tracks on the net) and thrashmagedon is class for old releases, but its not helping new bands.

If you cant afford to buy an album then save up.

And if one doesn't have the privilege to buy an album, how comes one can afford a monthly fee for internet access?

Anyway, yes indeed, the downloading issue. I'll download a Metallica album without a second thought, but I won't download the Evile album even though I haven't got it yet because I'm shit, and I really want to hear it. But I will make sure I buy it and not download it. Downloading obviously has its merits, like someone else said, I've found loads of bands through the internet. It helps to spread the word. But with that you have to rely on the hope that the people who download your music and enjoy it will have enough kindness and understanding to support you by buying the real thing, and it doesn't always work that way.

And as for thrashmageddonoendf, the one great thing about it is being able to get hold of rare old releases that you can't get anymore. There are other bad boys that have already been discussed, so i won't repeat everything again. Good day to you all.

Downloading is bad. I don't download albums, but I'm still a hypocritical cunt, because I just steal my mate's albums and store them on my iTunes - that's basically the same thing, but for some reason it doesn't feel as naughty.

Not going to quote it, but that was an amazingly lucid post from Harris that I totally agree with haha! Have you stopped smoking dope?!

Orrr, if you're into listening to really obscure albums that are damn near impossible to get hold of on any format for cheap, that haven't been in print for over 20 years, then it's pretty good, oh and also the demos section is awesome!!!

But yeah, I see the point you're making (and Gamadudes), and I don't think it's fair that these new thrash bands are having their debuts (often self-released or partially/fully self-financed releases) uploaded onto there for the 'real' thrash fans to download and 'collect' the mp3s of it... I don't have any mp3 of new albums that I don't own on cd, and I would never put them onto thrashmageddon!!! There's a line between sharing stuff that 's never gonna be released again (so sharing actually increases the bands 'legacy'), and sharing brand new releases of upcoming bands who haven't even got a foothold on the metal 'scene'

I AGREE I THINK THEY SHOULD SCRAP THE NEW RELEASES SECTION AND GIVE NEW BANDS A CHANCE, ITS NOT LIKE ANY OF THE MODERATORS OR ADMIN LISTEN TO THE NEW STUFF ITS MAINLY THE YOUNG KIDS ON THE FORUM, I MEAN THERE IS A LOT OF BAND MEMBERS ON THAT SITE MOST ARE MODS AND ADMIN HAVE ALL BEEN IN BANDS AT SOME POINT, WARKULT IS IN CARCASS, SOME DUDE IS IN ULCERATION,YOU MENTIONED HARRIS FROM RAGER GAMA BOMB DUDE,ANOTHER USED TO PROMOTE EXODUS FORBIDDEN VIO-LENCE ETC... BACK IN THE DAY,THERE IS SOME TALENT ON THAT SITE WITH MAJOR THRASH TO SHARE.

And it's a sign of being mental apparently. Either you're doing it to appear mental or you are mental... the choice is yours. :-)

I don't download and I buy when I can afford it. If you want to check out new bands, myspace lets you hear tracks and that's normally enough of an indicator. It's how I know I want 'Why Play Around?' so bad. Still, it's fucking obscure and hard to get so, in this case, I'd happily take a copy. With new bands, or even bands you like, I see no cause for being a tight cunt. I still haven't got the latest Ministry release but I will when I can afford it.

Fuck it. I think Harris got the point across well enough.

Of course not, why SHOULD you apologize or feel bad or have reservations about spreading the word for that place? Your hands are clean!

ok but does downloading really affects anything? This just how i see it, if there was no downloading maybe some people would buy the album but most wouldnt but since its on download those people might just download it and if they like it they will buy the next album, at least thats what i do.

Most bands dont have songs on download on myspace. I much rather buy merch!

I regulary go trough those forums and download bands i never heard of and sometimes you find stuff like violator and its like WOW im definatly getting their shit or sometimes its something like skinlab which i didnt like and it just got deleted.

But yeah i spend the most of my money on gigs beer and studio time.
