Didnt really undertsand who most folk wer supporting till the boks first penalty went over. Monty monty! What a cheer!! Was some english guy screaming next to us but he swiftly left after he told me some ridiculous argument that sackey was better than habana! Knobber

At the end of the day the best team won the tournament.

Biggest cheer of the night was seeing johnnys face at the end. Many glasses were raised.

Aye, I can't believe that people have besmirched Habana's name with a comparison to Paul Sackey.

MONTY!

i really dont see how the english were arrogant this time around. Optimistic maybe. I just find it laughable how much the Scots want england to lose all the time. If it was Scotland in the final most English people would be hoping for a scottish win or would display complete apathy.

I agree, I'd definitely support Scotland against other teams.

I don't doubt that, but then England has hegemony in the UK so you wouldn't know. I don't want to go too far into notions of identity, but the way the British media conducts itself during major sporting events and so forth is verging on unadulterated bias.

Scotland and Wales were given considerably less coverage than England throughout the group stages. Furthermore, Will Greenwood is probably the most unprofessional person I've ever had the misfortune of listening to: if Argentina are playing the All Blacks, who wants to hear about nothing but the England - France game from the night before? Despite the fact we have STV (as opposed to ITV London), we still have to put up with the same England-oriented coverage. It might just be me but, with that in mind, I find this a bit self-defeating.

And remember, it wasn't me that brought up the England - Scotland question in this thread: was it not gob shi... I mean, terrorizer who stated 'at least we did better than the Jocks' in a typical example of English wankery?

The above spiel aside, I do have to admit looking forward to England bottling it at penalty shoot outs every two years.

Better a gob shi... than a cun... For the record I do actually like Scotland, Scotch, Scotch Pancakes and most of the Scottish people I've met. The "Jocks" comment was to see if you'd bite. You did.

Don't be so stupid! Would you stick your genitals into a bees next just to see if they'd sting?

What a thoroughly pointless exercise: let's see if Scots enjoy being talked down to by English people. You should continue your research, you might even get funding for it.

I'm researching to see if Scots have a sense of humour.

thats it! why are you scots so sensitive about a bit of banter? every other country/ region takes the flak but as soon as it's scotland's turn you throw your rattle out the pram!
