My usual home recording looks like this:

Guitar pluged into the amp. Amp miced with Shure SM57. The same goes for the bass guitar. For vocals I use Shure Beta58 plugged directly into the recording interface.

I haven't recorded any drumms yet 'cause I've not enough mics. I use EZ drummer for the drums (pop/rock kit for the elements and DFH for the cymbals)

I record and mix in Cubase...You can hear how it sounds by clicking the first link in my sig...
