(Well demos anyway).
Just downloaded two tracks ("Vulturous" and "Death is Not the End") and all my fears have been realised.
They're shit.
Really shit.
Good christ in heaven, they're shit.
I know they're only unfinished demos but as the saying goes, you can't polish a turd.
Hetfield's voice is totally shot and the riffs are so simple they make Green Day seem overly technical in comparison.
Vulturous starts off as a bad, overlong Misfits song before slowing down into a reasonable riff halfway through but going back and repeating itself at the end, and the other one is just 8 minutes of dreary, meandering, buttock clenching nonsense.
Death may not be the end but I'm pretty sure the album will be.

This is news, how?
I'd have been happy if Metallica had stuck to their Re-Load formula. I Disappear was kind of cool actually.
If only bands played to their strengths...

I know it's not exactly going to come as a shock but I just hoped they were having a last, decent stab at trying to get back on track. If this is their idea of back on track then it's just really sad.

I don't think these are genuine.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I'm convinced these are fakes, no way is that Hetfield singing on them. I could be wrong.. but i don't think I am. I'm pretty sure I've seen "leaked instrumental demos" on youtube before where it was actually just somebody else recording these.

Will have a listen to the tracks later as I'm just about to go out.
I happen to agree with Iain on this one. They may not be to everyone's tastes but I thought Load and Reload were both solid albums and would rather hear them do a good album in the same vain as the Loads than hear them say "We're going back to the old sound. Expect another MOP" and produce a piss poor album because they just don't have it in them anymore to write music the way they did back then.

Even if it is just very well covered and fake leaks, what more can we expect anyway?

I pray to god they are fakes because if these truly are the real deal then Metallica are really fucked.
Sometimes it sounds exactly like Hetfield singing and other parts he/whoever sounds like Mustaine (especially on DINTE).
All I know is that the live festival recordings accompany the studio versions on the download and that's definitely them, and that Rob has stated in a recent interview that these songs (or any performed at festivals) will not be appearing on the album.
Small mercies and all that.

Just like there was no way that was Lars' drum sound on St. Anger?

Sorry, but what is this doing in the "All Thrash" section, everyone knows that Metallica are a "Stadium Rock" band nowadays.
