Aye, respect where it's due, that's some fucking lung power you've got there. Top set enjoyed by all of the HOD.

I think CG are excellent. SO good live, you have to hear it to believe it. Tom is shockingly good at guitar and their singer is, in my opinion, one of the best heavy metal singers going today, he really is that good. Last time I saw them at Birmingham, he hit a note that was so high it was piercing and made your ears ring!

Brilliant purveyors of orthodox British metal! I'm always flattened when I see CG live, excellent playing and singing - often wish they'd tread a less obvious path, but there's no faulting their material otherwise.
Which tracks are new? I'm sure I've heard some of these Myspace ones before

You know what, I kind of feel that with such a ridiculously high level of skill in the band, they could be doing something a little more mental and out there that is still total heavy metal but a bit more unique. Like, if they had that crazy Mercyful Fate kind of thing going but CG style.
Anyway, no offense to CG because what they do is so enjoyable, I just think they could be even more insane, they have so much going for them.
Crowning Glory

Oh yeah, love the new tracks.

He's unbelievable, the only other man who's been able to do that to me is Mr Halford himself! I'm listening to Crime now, good lord, Rob's voice really is unbelievable. I bloody love Crowning Glory. I do agree with what Tom and James said though, you're brilliant right now but it won't be long before the 'True Metal' shenanigans begins to wear thin. You're all so good you could do so much more with the genre. Take it to new heights!

cheers dudes, on the myspace crime and devourer are the only ones we've never released before, the DMP audio is the same as the video we put up a while ago for the single (which will be coming out at some point, still don't know when though!). winter in our blood's the other (brand new) one - we've only played that one abut four or five times, but thats only on our facebook page for now.
as for a more mental direction, the priority's just about writing the most kickass songs we can come up with, but a little bit of diamond-esque madness couldn't possibly hurt...

I agree about the Mercyful Fate point - it's not that you should sound more like them, but pursue a unique sound like they have, with amazing rhythm and riff changes.
The vocal melodies are there by the bucket-load, but the riffs seem to always tread the same sort of pace and are quite chuggy and hammered/pulled off - that sort of thing is certainly enjoyable to watch if you're a beer swigging member of the crowd, but it would be cool to just step out of the box a lot more, and really shake things up a bit with unpredictable changes like Mercyful Fate.
Whereas at the moment you're doing razor sharp conventional metal very much in the mould of the big names' current outputs (very much like modern Saxon and Priest), it would be great if you could reach a combination which is recognizably 'Crowning Glory'!
