Well I checked the songs out just now, and my solos are still on the song 'Spitting Venom', and my rhythm guitars are still on all 3 of the myspace songs. 'Frontline' ... he's re-recorded my solo but it's pretty much the same solo I wrote. I think Heaven's Gate still has my sweep picking solo near the end (just before the heavy ass riff comes in!). Sal's drumming is still on it all too.

As for what he's said...haha man...I've had a fair few abusive emails, plus a blackmailing threat against my family and my band if I pursued him anymore. I'm sure I'll see Dave around a certain part of London sometime soon so I'll see what he has to say then.

Oh and I doubt it's James Tyler on the recording, because the recording was finished and being mixed by the time HC ended. After that there was some russian dude called Anton on guitar before James Tyler joined SM.

If it makes things any clearer, the credits on the sleeve say "All songs written and arranged by D. Silver" but then confusingly that the songs "Spitting Venom" and "Frontline" were written with D. Justo and B. Perry and "W.D.U." with B. Perry and R. Goss.

That's really strange...because W.D.U was written and recorded before I even joined Headless Cross I didn't write (or record) anything on W.D.U. Wrote a few riffs for some of the other songs though and Sal did.

I recorded rhythm guitars and solos for (just checking to be sure!) .... Heaven's Gate, Frontline, Spitting Venom, In Cold Blood, Remission, In For The Kill, The Powers That Be, and an un-named acoustic/ballad song. I don't know how many of those songs ended up on the final CD though (Sal and I never received a copy).

Yeah i know for sure that James wasn't on the recording, nor was Pete and neither was I! Yes i was playing in the band when Anton was there, haha he was a laugh.... NOT!

It always seems a shame to me that all of Dave's msuical output seems to be overshadowed by all the various screwing over and arguments and things, because by rights of how decent the recording is, Savage Messiah should do really well! However, if the same old problems of unstable line-ups carry on it will make it difficult to get anywhere. That might seem hypocritical of me to say anything about that since i just left, but that was purely for the practical reason of not living in the same city as everyone else in the band, doing my final year at uni and being in deceptor.

Err, so i guess, in short, hope you get your dosh back Rich, it sucks that you got messed about, but good luck to SM anyway.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how long the drummer and guitarist last in comparison with HC... Am I right in saying the only reason behind the name change because of the bad rep that HC got??

I've PMed Dave Silver via his myspace to ask him about who is playing on the album, if I intend to heap praise on it, especially the lead guitar work, I want to make sure I have the right name! I've also invited him to post on here to answer some of the questions "Spitting Venom" has raised.

Dave has replied to me and has okayed it for me to paste his message on here.

"Hey dude, glad you like the music!

So the situation with the recording was like this.

Basically as Headless Cross we went into the studio to record what was hopefully going to be a debut album. The whole process took 5 months. In that 5 month process we had a drummer that turned up to the studio for 3 days and a 2nd guitarist that attended for 3 weeks. We didn't have a bassist at that point either.

In the end I ended up played all Rhythm, Lead, Acoustic and Bass guitars as well as all Vocal parts. With the exception of one bass part on heavens gate played by Andy Faulkner and the 2nd solo on "Spitting Venom" (played by the old HC guitarist) which we left due to time restrictions. For the drum parts we used the hi-hats and overheads from the live drum tracks.

So the whole band fell apart for whatever reasons, and I decided to be somewhat cathartic and put something new together. So we put SM together, I moved to London and we've just been getting everything up and running and its going really cool!

We decided to use some of the material recorded with Andy to put out an E.P to give the new band a head start. So out of 12 tracks recorded, so we used only the strongest songs from that period of HC. The reason we decided to run with a different name was because we're a different band just sort of formed from the ashes of my previous band. Also I started HC when I was 16 so after 4 years it was time for a change!

Was busy working all day and night yesterday so I've only now had time to read this properly...

First off I was there alot longer than 3 weeks but I won't go on about that much, as that's the least of my concerns.

So Dave says he recorded pretty much everything? Hmm if that were the case...why was I there for so long? Just to record one guitar solo on Spitting Venom? I'm not that bad (by the way, I recorded the lead bits after the solos too!)

I don't understand that bit about the drums...does that mean he kept Sal's hi-hats and overheads but Pete Hunt re-recorded the rest of the drums? That wouldn't make much sense though and Paul's already said that none of the new guys recorded anything on there...confusing (thanks too for clearing that up dude, much appreciated)

What I'm wondering is if the tracks on the Savage Messiah EP are completely re-recorded and different to the ones on the myspace? If that's the case then fair enough, but as it is, I can clearly hear my leads, solos and rhythm guitars on all 3 of those myspace tracks! If they're the same ones Dave's putting on CD, then it's definitely Sal and I playing.

I was going to get a copy of the Savage Messiah CD so I could double check myself (to be sure once and for all!) but it says on their myspace "Due to a serious error we've had to put the release date back to the 29th of October"
