Credit where its due, Martin is a fucking evil vocalist. And Paul (Deceptor) is fucking great too.
With regards to the track, vocally and lyrically I didn't think it worked. I also thought the music sounded quite lifeless and uninteresting. No disrespect meant. There is definite potential but I'm just not feeling it at the mo.
I think this will go in here

I've been monitoring this thread for some time now and am overjoyed with all the hilarities.
As for the track, I'm afraid I'm with the naysayers on this one. For me there isn't anything that stands out at all. The vocals were bland and made the whole thing sound pretty boring, but the actual music itself didn't really have any interest to it anyway. The riffs were too standard and obvious and there wasn't enough variation at all in any part of the track. On the whole it came across as pretty uninspired. My advice would be to just be a lot more daring with the songwriting. Take risks and push yourself a lot more, as it is it just sounds very safe and as a result very generic and boring. It just doesn't do anything. And the vocals need to be a lot more interesting too. If you're going to have non-melodic shouting vocals, the music has to be extra good to make the whole thing work, and the vocals need to be good enough on their own so they aren't just annoying, as a lot of screaming and shouting vocals can be. Take Opeth for example. During the heavy bits where there's lots of shouting, the best music in the world is happening underneath, and they both work really well together. And anyway, Mikael Akerfeldt is a mighty demon.
Basically, to sum up my point, the music needs to be way more interesting, and the vocals need to be way more unique. And generally there just needs to be more passion! If you're all facing in the right direction, all you've got to do is keep on walking.

Was this statement just to piss Martin off?

No. I wrote it that way to provoke a funny kind of response but Martin obviously can't deal with any kind of criticism judging by his response... "In the sense that I've had sex with a girl at least once." how mature

I just don't hear any 'evil' in Heretic's music, or the vocals.... what's wrong with forming opinions?

Well, I wasn't expecting any, hence my original post saying "Evil how?? There's no evil in the lyrics, so how can the vocals be evil??".......
And I'm glad you don't cry like goths! I can't think of anyone who does, so that would just be weird....

There is nowt wrong with forming an opinion. I formed the one that Martin's vocals were evil. You formed the opinion they're not. I formed on the fact that he sounds evil, irrespective of what he sings about. If someone did a lounge cover of cannibal corpse, the vocals would not be evil. By the same token, if Martin sang about flowers and the right for gay love, his vocals would still nasty and vicious (in a good way). You based your opinion on what, exactly? Furthermore, 'Killing Fields' and 'Purity Cleansed' are not exactly 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'.
Maniac, I have got nothing against you, I think Rager are wicked (looking forward to the demo) and I'm not picking sides in your arguments with Martin. However, i think you're wrong on this one.
