Bonestorm 2 - Friday 27th May

Postby radioactive rik on Thu Jan 27, 2011 7:10 pm

now i have a netbook with the majority of versions of streetfighter 2 emulated on there, another competition could be done.
it will still be played via 2 snes pads (converted to usb.)

so this time round it will be a lot easier to sort. its just a case of when and wherever is easiest for people to get to.
outdoors or at someones place in london would be the obvious choices.

in a pub would be a bit disruptive to the locals and also may attract unwanted attention.

alternatively we could tie it in with the football day.maybe hyde/green park or somewhere similar/central.

like before,i think a maximum of 8 people would be best for a knockout contest, and due to the battery life on the netbook not being too long.it usually lasts around 1hr if im gaming on it.
i think the last tournament took around 30mins and that was with 8 players.

also if its in a park we can make an event of it with booze and music etc.

it would be cool to have a few get togethers. Mercyful summer fate is always cool but then it feels like another long year for it to come around again,so maybe if we scattered a 2-3 events across the spring/summer thatd be cool.

if we could sort a bonestorm and football date(whether theyre a seperate or joint event/s) then we could all book it off work and save in advance and put it in our schedules for things to attend and make sure were all about etc.

im thinking bonestorm could possibly happen in may. hows that for anyone else?
(or maybe we could do it on the afternoon of an upcoming gig, like before)

Bonestorm should have it's own day, and should ideally be somewhere that has a projector we can hook up to.

BOOOOOOOONE STTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRM!
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

i'm sure with the addition of buying a few pints and maybe getting a couple of bands to play after the event, we could make a night of it at the Unicorn. maybe even sort out a small cash prize (or buy some sort of trophy...) from the budget of the place. If a lot of people came down it could be fun, you could hook up to one of their large plasma screens and have a 16 person tournament (or bigger than 8 anyway).

if you think its good, then let me know and i'll hook some shit to some other shit to make a shit hook.

yeah cool idea Jamie,it crossed my mind but i thought maybe they would be dubious about it.i wasnt sure if it would be too intrusive in a pub unless theres a secluded area/section.
on the other hand i think if 1 or 2 bands played after an afternoon of gaming, then the pub would surely greenlight it as an event.
maybe the winner/runners up could be treated to a beer or 2 by the rest of the contenders.this way the pub makes something out of holding it.
unicorn is always cool and free.
im sure theyd be up for a trial.

last time would have been cooler if the stupid owner didnt rush us due to his pub changing to being closed on sundays well after i had ok'd it with him.also half of us were skint and showed up at random times so i can see from a business point of view why he was wanting it to be over and done with.

anyway, maybe if we could get people signed up and do a flyer etc then it could possibly be a big success, especially with bands and Jamie on board pulling some strings, also the unicorn seem to be open to suggestion and i guess theres quite a connection/rapport between many london bands and the owner.

firstly, thanks to Jamie and Tom/hckf for helping make this happen.
so heres the initial self made flyer with all the info on.HCKF are a definite and there may 'possibly' be another band added nearer the time but if not then it will still be awesome. i have 100 colour and 100 black and white flyers done and 2 A4s to stick in Unicorn so im sure the turnout will be decent.i will be flyering after evile on sunday so hopefully will convert some new challengers.
i will make a topic in the gigs thread too since we have a rocking band this time around.
