5 Years Ago Today...

Postby James on Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:34 pm

...UK Thrash was spawned!

It doesn't seem like half a decade since the site was launched, there have been loads of awesome gigs and gatherings in that time and lots of new friendships, and the UK scene has come a long way from where it was when I first started investigating it in late 05.

The site and forum have been through various phases in the 5 years too, and although 2011 has been a relative lull so far, I'd like to think it's still a cool place to hang out and I hope to breathe some fresh life into the homepage articles in the near future.

And now for a selection of shit cakes.

Well done James, 5 years of glory.

Crazy to see how things have changed (and how some things haven't!) and wonderful to have been part of a real "thing" that has happened during these last few years. In some ways things seem to have flourished and died down, but in other ways it seems like this is merely the beginning and that it has taken this long for things to have really started to get in motion. regardless of the music and popularity of the new-wave of thrash, its the people who have made this forum such a special place for 5 lovely years, so well done to you all.

Thanks to James and this forum, I have had many fantastic times and made some very true friends. People with whom I can't wait to make even more great memories and go on more adventures with. The forum isn't as active as it once was but it doesn't matter really because it serves its purpose and the people who have been part of it know what it means.

Mine and Jamie's Metal night, a 5 year UKT anniversary show, Bonestorm II and MSF V are all to come, bring it on! Long live UK Thrash and all those who made it possible!

Has it really been five years?!

Thinking about all the cool things that have come out of the forum, Mercyful Summer Fates, The Gama Bomb Party Bus, Bonestorm 1 (and soon to be 2) and countless gigs, it has been fun to be a part of.

While activity seems to come and go in waves it still managed to keep alive.

The great chronicle of UKthrash will continue ...And this story shall also be told.

Holy shit, five years? Seems like only yesterday everybody was rejoicing over the 3 year mark. Time fucking flies.

I love all of you horrible wankers. Except for Zurab.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Wow. Happy birthday. I still have lots of love for UK Thrash. The beast has changed, the hype has faded but it still has plenty of life. Five more years and I'll be firmly established in my 30s and the scene will have died and resurrected again!

I never thought I'd say this, but sometimes I miss Lev and Martin.

Honestly, I do love this place.

Even though we are quiet now, we still know and well... love each other in a strange way.

It's our community to an extent, we may not have been at the forefront of it all, but we were all connected.

Let's keep it strong and move with the times.
