I played bits of Silent Hill 2 with my brother back in the day when it was fairly new and remember being scared of the dark, static, telivisions, all sounds ever, doors opening, doors not opening, fog, ridiculously long pathways, pyramids etc etc etc for a long time afterwards.

... So I recently decided to get it and play through the series myself. I played through 2 and 1 [I make my boyfriend play it while I watch a lot of the time because I almost enjoy it more that way, I'm a good gamer girlfriend ] and now halfway through 3 [the fucking shakespeare puzzle is ridiculously hard, the first sodding one and we actually ended up getting it by complete fluke] I am now literally obsessed with the games... every single sound effect is complete and utter genius, and the soundtrack itself... *orgasm* I get ridiculously excited about coming home to play it and sometimes scribble down puzzles I can't quite work out at work... [I'm very sad, I know... blah blah, get out more, blah..you'll turn into fat chick..]

Anyway, I was just wondering has anyone played 'The Room' onwards who is a big fan of the earlier games and are they really as disappointing as I've read because I want to play it objectively but at the same time... I don't want to play it if it's not as completely atmospheric and amazing as the others... plus do the fixed camera angles stay because I love that shit...?

I didn't mind the room, it's a separate story really but still quite compelling.

The game can become a bit of a chore though really, the soundtrack is as amazing as ever though.

Silent Hill is great, the first one with the screaming monkey babies at the start.

2 is the best and three was good....the room was alright, it originally wasn't supposed to be a silent hill game which you can tell but the new features are quite interesting.

Though the soundtrack is amazing! The intro to the first one and the theme of laura from the second are good fun to play guitar

yeah silent hill fucking rules! i had n completed first 3 back in the day and i really enjoyed the movie, i hope there is a sequel cause the nding could have been a cliff hanger

Anyway yeah, just got past the fucking horrible mannequin room in the 3rd one... I actually yelped when the thing screamed even though I knew something was going to happen.. fucking weird shit. I won't ruin it for anyone though... but fuck.

I'm really pleasently surprised that Heather isn't a ridiculously annoying bint like a lot of female characters in games, it's always really annoying when you have to switch over to play some girl and they're always fast but really irritating or can't move objects or some shit, she's cool, I like her.

If they made a second film I don't know how good it'd be.. I re-watched the film after playing through the first two games and it's actually quite impressive that they manage to keep a lot of the atmosphere, they didn't really holly-fuck it up like a lot of films based on games... or just films based on anything in general, haha. I'm rambling again... I missed this forum

Silent Hill 2 is one of my favourite games, Pyramid Head never ceases to scare the shit out of me. The bit when you're running away from him at the end of the hospital section......bloody hell.

Yeah that shit is terrifying, the neverending hallways of doom scare the crap out of me. I never actually worked out what the deal is with the different coloured eggs and the two doors at the end, does it actually matter what you choose? Silent Hill 2 is amazing, the constant 'there is a giant hole, I can't see how far down it goes, will you jump down?' Yes, of course I'll jump down the bottomless hole, that's a fucking great idea..... :S
