Even Satan hates Overkill.

I find it highly ironic that someone on the UK Thrash forum is slagging a band off for being unoriginal and boring.

Overkill never really grabbed me but they do have some excellent albums. Taking Over and Feel the Fire are quite lovely and there's always a few quality songs on even the dodgiest album.
That said, Devils in the Mist seems pretty by the numbers and the chorus seems strangely familiar.
Seriously, what is that chorus from? It's really starting to irritate me.

Testament overrated?

Actually, thank you. The chorus to that Overkill song was reminding me of Do Or Die by Testament (substitute "I'm the hunter, you're my prey" for the second "Devils in the mist" during the chorus). So that's cleared that up nicely for me. I can go to sleep now.
Thanks for that.

oh my god!!!!!!!!!!
???????????????????????????
up to I Hear Black Overkill were THE most consistent thrash band out there. Their first three albums are fucking thrash CLASSICS!!

show me ANY band that has that many classic albums.
they fell off after that but the last one was okay and this one isnt better than reign in blood but it's pretty fucken good. better than some shite thats being trumpeted as nu-wave of thrash which is just pantera without the imagination and ingenuity.
PLUS, they are fucking consistently storming live.
oh dear, i think i just had kittens

Destruction
Infernal, eternal devestation, release from agony, the anitchrist
Sodom
persecution mania, agent orange, code red, m16
i hate them but metallica's first 4 couls easiily qualify for that
Dark Angel possibly, tho leave scars wasn't as good as time does not heal and darkness descends
exodus maybe
bonded, fabulous, and maybe tempo
kreator would probably qualify with extreme agression, coma of souls, and enemy of god
i'm sure u couls argue the same for anthrax, testament, sepultura, and maybe sacred reich....maybe...
there thats at least 6 bands for ya

SIX consistent albums? nope, most of em only managed three.
Feel the Fire (1987)
Taking Over (1987)
Under the Influence (1988)
The Years Of Decay (1989)
Horrorscope (1991)
I Hear Black (1993)
Testament sold out pretty quick for the Metalli-dollar. it comes down to personal preference innit. seems Overkill are a polarising band. IMHO Kreator fell off too. I'm talking REAL quality. consistent. Kreator, Testament and Exodus all released shite before going back to their roots, 10 years later. most of those bands didn't last into the 90's... times changed and so did the bands.
dont get me wrong I love all those bands, but I just dont think Overkill get the respect they are due. Obviously!

course, some people like Practice What You Preach over The Legacy and post Peace Sells over pre-Peace Sells.

Megadeth:
Youthanasia
Cryptic
Risk
The World Needs a Hero
System
United Abominations

No, but seriously Overkill may not have been technically a bad band but there's just so much more to listen to, why waste time on them?
