What a spiv. I dunno about you, but I'd feel the need to sit in front of someone who was trying to film it and keep rustling stuff and standing up just to ruin his stupid day.

Nope. The films are good but the books are too long winded.

The films by a long way. I haven't read the books though.

The books are great. The first one takes ages to get into though, it is long-winded and very, very descriptive, but man, it's fucking worth it. The Two Towers is a most unbelievable book indeed! Return of the King is also amazing but not quite as good because it has the same thing of long winded madness for the journey home. But once you've read that, you'll definitely appreciate the ending of the film version a lot more!

I was gutted after finishing the books (before the films were out) that Sauron didn't come back in the flesh for one final showdown with Aragorn, or perhaps even cooler, Gandalf!

Instead his stupid eye just crumbles, and you never really see him.

Perhaps I've been watching too many cartoons and modern films, where there is always a big boss battle at the end... I guess it wouldn't have made any sense for him to come back, I was just hoping...

Here's an interesting fact. They were actually going to do that in the final film. That's why Aragorn fights that big troll thing outside the gates at the end, because the troll thing was originally Sauron, they just wanted him to have a big boss fight. But luckily they changed it because they realised they were being sacrilegious.

Interesting fact there Jon! I am SO glad they didn't do that though, it would have destroyed so much of the trilogy's credibility.

All I meant was that I was hoping for that to happen in the actual book - I didn't want them to change the book to include it in the film, so I'm glad they saw sense!

I was always suprised they didn't include that nobhead ghost Peeves in the harry potter films (well at least the early ones, i dunno about the last two). I always thought he played quite a big role by basically grassing harry up..

Ian, we have been close mates now for almost 30 years, we have seen some rough times and some tough times together, we have seen each other grow up, get married, start families and seen them expand, written zines and stuff, and imbibed much alcohol and brown herbal stuff together so i feel that i am able to tell you what you just said is totalfuckingcobblersnbolloxytwattingshit!!! The films are excellent, but nowhere near as good as the books. END OF DISCUSSION :?

As for harry potter, again, the books are better and i got into them on the 2nd book, then read them all as they came out. The films are getting better as the series goes on, although of course that would have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that hermione is getting older

We have all been told at work today to expect saturday to be a real bastard as there has been so many pre-orders for this book through amazon etc, that they have had to warn royal mail that the workload is expected to be immense

I've never been able to get into Harry Potter. I can't get round the fact that a little nerd kid is the hero. Heroes are supposed to have big fuck off machine guns and blow stuff up!

The Harry Potter films are the worst acted (and casted AND directed) films in history, its appalling. They should have got American kids to act in it, for some odd reason, yank kids can act really well. Dan Radclif is such a horrible actor.

"Your a wizard Harry!"

After hearing this you would expect someone to go..."I'm a WHAT?" with loads of emotion. No, little Dan says the line with about as much emotion as a corpse. Thats one example of crap acting, not to mention numerous other cast members who's parents have paid their way through acting school.

Rant over!

At least Hermione has boobs now.

Yeh he's complete crap, the worst line I remember is in the first film where they are running away from the 3 headed dog I think, and he shouts, completely monotone and devoid of any emotion..

"THROUGH THAT DOOR."
