Talk about all thrash metal.

Moderators: James, Craig, Resilience Records

James did you read your first post before saying that? :P

I revisited this album today, and I've decided more than ever that it's totally overrated and boring basically.

Everybody already knows it's overrated, and it may be boring to lots of people but it doesn't make it not fucking good!!!

The production gets on my nerves a little (waaaay too clean and ott), but Hetfield sounds amazing, the guitar solos are pretty cool, the riffage is fat and the tracks are well made, despite what you may say  mwahahaha

mmm pancakes...

 Got me there. I couldn't be bothered to read back - but you were implying that I'd gone off it simply from too many listens though, which isn't true. I meant I think the bulk of the riffs and ideas are just quite 'boring', in terms of being plain.

That's my attempt to wriggle out of that one anyway! :P

I'm not even going to bother to respond to the ludicrous claims made in the first post, but if you can't realise that MOP is a classic heavy metal album (so it's not all thrash - who fucking cares) there's no hope for you.

The original american promo of the MOP album actually came with a sticker on it which said "The only track you wont want to play is Damage Inc. due to multiple use on the infamous "F" word! Otherwise, there are no shits, cunts, motherfuckers or cocksuckers anywhere on this record!" . The band wanted it on the actual release, but Elektra wouldn't go with it!!!
Similar story i heard (but not sure if it is true) is that one of the top executives at Vertigo was strongly oppossed to releasing the cover of The Anti-nowhere Leagues "So What!", and in a heated boardroom argument said he would resign if he was overruled and it was released, which he subsequently did! May be an urban myth, but probably at least some truth in it!!

Master of Puppets = awesome. Amazing songwriting, memorable solos, wicked vocals, killer riffs.

Saying something is overrated sort of implies that you know exactly how eveyone rates it and that you just dont rate it as highly. Its not exactly a definitive statement. Especially since most people who've replied to your thread seem to agree that its overrated. So if they dont rate it that highly, is it still overrated then? Or is it rated correctly now? How will we ever know? Arghhhhhh!

I reckon its wicked, its so well played and forceful.

Eat Fuck.
