Of course this has to be Zakk Wylde , having watched him on his european invasion behind the scenes when hes jamming its jsut brilliant , his technique is awesome , hes like real fast , hes really versatile on the fretboard playing say blues stuff , heavy riffs or what have you and has no fear of mixing as some guitarists are reluctant to do..

You're right, It's just that he hasn't done anything of note since Badlands (who I am a MASSIVE fan of) so that doesn't make him "today's". Zakk, as shit as he has now become is still churning out the albums, and so is Skolnick.

What's with all this Zakk hatred all of a sudden? I really like his playing with ozzy and black label; such a distinctive style too.
I've not really heard much recent zakk stuff though.

I really like his harmonics too, with that vibrato it is his style... no-one ever slated van halen for too much tapping.

I do find his live solo wah pedal pentatonic triplet stuff a bit of a bore though.

Zakk used to murder Black Sabbath songs that he played with Ozzy. I find him to be an annoying guitarist i supose.
