At my uni, the rock society is officially named "UCLan Rock and Thrash society".

Sorry what? Thrash? Er... Isn't that a sub-genre of metal? What if I worshipped pagan metal? Am I not allowed in?

They seriously don't know anything. The leader listens to lostprophets and whenever you go into the "metal pub", the dj is always playing disturbed or something. Apart from my mate, I've met two other people who were remotely into decent music. One of them, who is now a friend of mine, is into some good stufchs including UK thrash, whilst another guy claimed that "Dave Mustaine saved his life". Hm. I stayed away from him, and we very rarely go to thay sham of a society.

I was later informed that the word "thrash" didn't mean thrash metal, it meant "anything alternative".

I've had the same thing. And in guitar shops. While I'm idoly looking at guitars and not doing any work. The HMV one is dumb though, I mean, they have uniforms. I'm wearing an Anthrax tshirt. One of the kind that makes sure you know the wearer is into Anthrax.

Warwick Uni Rocksoc was pretty cool, most of the loyal members were into decent metal. There were also punk and goth societies, and a short-lived emo society My current uni is so small it doesn't even have any societies

I think last night I heared the most shocking thing I've heared in a long time...

My best mate came round to my house. I've known him for about 20 years. We agree on almost everything since we grew up together and we're almost like brothers. I always thought he had the same kind of mind as me but last night just took the piss.

He'd had a few beers, and he started talking about science. He said, "you know what's bollocks?... Evolution". I was like, "what the fuck?". He said he doesn't believe that we evolved into what we are today and now believes that it's more likely that aliens, or some kind of god put us here...
Then he said, "if we're supposed to have evolved from monkeys, then how come there are still monkeys in the forest that haven't evolved into humans yet"...

At first I thought he was joking, but he really wasn't!
I couldn't even argue back because I was that shocked at what I'd just heared him say. I couldn't put into words how stupid I thought he was!

It's one thing reading idiots say stuff like that on the internet, but when it's in your own house it's a completely different story.

I think I'm going to have to burn him alive.
