We have a referrendum on the matter of capital punishment, and everyone who votes to bring it back has their name put in a hat. Every time we wrongly kill an innocent person because they were found guilty, but then later pardonned, we execute 1 person who voted to bring back capital punishment. We draw their name out of a hat in a national lottery style. It's bizarro harsh! (And of course, a horrible idea, but makes you think)

Yes, yes, we've heard all this before. That idea's stupid though, if the criminals build a torture machine that we have designed, and effectively contracted, we are clearly just as bad. I think that falls under the category "accessory to murder".

I really don't see what you can do for someone like that to be honest. Obviously kiddy fiddlers and rapists and such don't think they're doing anything wrong. The following is purely speculation, but it makes sense that they have not been conditioned to believe these actions to be wrong while growing up, and so it is likely to be very hard to convince them so, particularly if they've already done it once. Think about it, how many people do you know that would willingly do something that's considered extremely sick, socially? I actually find it quite interesting that these people don't see that they're doing anything wrong. It's only "wrong" because society says so. It's like dogs, you wouldn't eat one in this country because that would be wierd. A beloved pet, "man's best friend", you may as well be eating a mate. But in the east dogs are cosidered vermin in many countries, and are commonly eaten. Are those people wierd?

I doubt it's got much to do with social conditioning, a sexual preference is a sexual preference: you wouldn't apply the same explanation to gay people nowadays - everyone seems to say that people are more or less born with their sexuality, so people are not going to become un-gay if it is "considered sick" socially. My guess would be it's the same for paedos!
