this was a truly sickening cowardly act.
in my small town there is the "court lodge" estate.basicly a breeding ground for retards and future convicts.
then the other end of town is an area known as "riverside" coz its near the river.
these two places since about the year 2000 have created a little eastside/westside thing between the 12-25year olds(even tagging eachothers areas with spraypaint)
being 24 myself and having two brothers of 21 and 19 and living on the edge of the town center in a small road with one dead end we are pretty much in the middle.
there is only one secondry school in our town.and three middle schools(the court lodge one producing the most uneducated dicks)
the school in town is where we went to and most of the riverside kids so weve got to know them over the years.
basicly what im getting at is the fact i wouldnt be able to walk to work to gatwick through riverside area if it wasnt for me/my brothers being ok with half the lads there,they are not a bad bunch really,and didnt ask for the court lodge lot to bring trouble to them but can stick up for themselves hence making all the people over 30 stereotype them.and the little local paper makes it worse by actually calling them rival gangs etc.so its kind of stuck.
my middle bro has been quite a tough guy over the years and as there is three of us so we usually) get left alone.
there has been numerous occasions where ive benn started on and avoided a beating coz i would mention my bro to the court lodge lot and theyd shut the fuck up.
and the younger riverside boys who sometimes mouth will then try and be my friend if i mention either younger bro they think whoops sorry mate.
one pair of lads with cans in hand tried to mug/beat me after a late shift then i showed them my airport I.D with my surname as they didnt believe me when i told them who i was then they apologized and their older brothers who knew me were not happy with them
a lot more trouble has gone on over the years even with dad involved,but im sticking to the subject.its always when there is more of them,the cowards.
but yeah its fucking silly these days. horley to me is just a town full of old biddys,charity shops,hairdressers,estate agents and takeaways and not much else.
but to these kids its like south central l.a. in the hood etc.
(just like on ali g movie when he drives his car round with music blaring and its the most boring quiet area)
if i get shit when i can eventually tie my hair back then so be it,these teens are all playing at it.the most dangerous offenders usually dissappear after 2-3years ie;jail or evictions.
people shouldnt have to live in fear.
we should get an army of metalheads and see how hard they are when we storm their chav hangout.

i also walk to gatwick to get the train to gig(in all my thrash gear).i get the odd comment from the ones i know,and just reply its better than hanging round doing the same thing ad going to the shitty local pubs,then they say fair enogh/good point.
also walking back from a gig through town i havent been set upon yet,maybe coz i dont hear the twats as i have headphones on.
or maybe people may think im a bit of a nutter to be out that late on my own.could be the tatts and scary band shirt/denim perhaps?

I've never had much trouble around here. Surprising really, would have thought wearing a Crust shirt aswell as a Henri Lloyd jacket would piss off both sets of people.

I have to say there isnt really much trouble round here, except for mindless vandalism, which pisses me off.
Right opposite my house is a bus shelter, and occasionally there are groups of teenagers hanging round it, they may make a bit of noise for a while, but not much else. However, about 6 months ago, there was a group of about 12 or so of them, and i could hear a couple of them kicking the glass, which really fucked me off, so i went and stood across the road from them and i heard one say "look at that bald twat staring", so i went over to him and asked him if he had a problem with me, and he didnt say fuck all to me . I told them to stop kicking the glass as it really doesnt make u look in the slightest bit big or clever, and they all stood there like a bunch of little girls. I understand if this was in toxteth or moss side, i may have been in a bit of bother, but you gotta stand up to them, and show that you're not scared.
The worst bit is that i worry like fuck for my own kids, they are 10 and 12 now, and pretty well behaved, but over the next few years i reckon the peer pressure will become more of a problem. I would always make them accountable for their own actions tho if they ever did anything out of order. Bad parenting is the main factor behind most of the trouble really.

Ive walked through Moss Side getting to a gig once, we walked past a big gang and didnt get bothered, it was ace. But i would have felt safer in Iraq at that moment.

I had to avoid walking under the bridge I normally go under because there was a gang of idiots under there, so I went the long way which adds 20 minutes onto the walk. When I walked past the bus stop there was a "meffy fuckin bag edd" sat there and he just said to me, "light"... What the fuck? Light?... I felt like saying, "no, it's dark mate". I know he was asking for a light in his scally way, but until these dumb fucks can learn to string together a proper sentence, they're getting no light from me... Tossers
