Did you complete it?
It took me a few tries, but I have defeated the final boss on easy now.

Yeah, it's basically essential that you build a maze that forces them to walk around for ages being shot (except the damn flyers of course)
I don't recommend just putting all your stuff in the middle - set up the guns at the entrance so you start blasting them as soon as they arrive.
Easy is nothing though with just one line - Normal mode is the bitch because you have to manage two streams. I don't think I've even got half way yet...

As I was saying to Donny, I feel like a proud parent!

Nothing compared to James' utter monster, but I'm proud of this one:

I'm fed up with Desktop Tower Defence, it's too infuriating when you inevitably lose

I dunno, I have completed it with some good strategies. I even end up with about 10-15 lives but any other mode apart from Easy is impossible. Here is an early version of my greatest strategy:

Like I said, this is an early version, I have now made some additions that allow me to win every time. The trick, I think, is upgrading your towers.

Yeah, upgrading is DEFINITELY the key. I hate playing on Normal mode.
I am struggling to win again on Easy mode actually, I've only done it once. They keep making it through my maze before I can kill them all.
That layout looks interesting Tom but you'll have to explain it.
On safer territory, here is my new 2nd highest Hamster score:
