slayers decade of aggression, id only really heard angel of death and postmortem at the time (about 5 years back now); and a friend who heard that on my comp assumed i liked slayer and got me decade of aggression for my birthday; i wasnt really that thrilled until i listened to it, then i was thrashin all the way

"Hell On Earth", which was a Music For Nations compilation from 1983, had Metal Militia on it, first time I'd heard Metallica. It was instant love... "Speed Kills", an Under One Flag compilation from 1986 was also very important. I'd moved on to Slayer, Exciter etc., but this opened my eyes to the likes of Celtic Frost, Possessed, Sodom, Voi Vod, Exodus, Megadeth...

heh speaking of Speed Kills, downloaded the apparent precursor of Destruction - Bestial Invasion of Hell named "Speed Kills". Turned out just to tracks taken off the Bestial Invasion of Hell demo labeled as Speed Kills, cunts.

I know they where on the first Speed Kills comp but this is seperate.

Ha you lot are making me feel old, but yeah it was a fucking killer time in the mid 80's when thrash was exploding but still underground. The record that showed me the way was "Show No Mercy". I got it from Shades in London (anyone remember that shop?! I met Metallica there once!) on the evidence of the nasty looking cover. This would be 1984 I think. When I got home and played it, it just fucking annihilated me. It was so evil and fast compared to anything else, the atmosphere was totally different to ANYTHING else. Not too long after, they released "Haunting The Chapel" and "Hell Awaits" which upped the ante even further. If you were around at this time, you would understand why thrashers worshipped Slayer, compared to the watered down nu metallers they have become (sort of!). Sorry I'll get my zimmer frame...

Kill 'em All got me into thrash, but Bonded By Blood got me into other thrash bands besides from early Metallica and Megadeth.
