Mountains out of molehills - I said "no or very little" interest. The majority of people here do have at the very least a passing interest, which happens to be the reason why they are here and not on some other forum. The "troll" label applies to all who effectively are here for purely their own enjoyment and not for any constructive reason (as Lev has stated earlier in the thread).

"If you banned the people on here who are basically trolls - Dian Wei, Herzeleid, Lev, MartinC and myself - you'd be left with a forum that is as entertaining as Enya. Is that really what you want?"
But if it would mean that people who actually care and contribute worthwhile information, fucking safe to hangout with and drink beer with have to resort to stopping posting then I'd rather your little troupe of gays fuck off. It's at the detriment of James and Craigs forum that you're driving people away, but ultimately it doesn't matter, Rik has a life outside of the internet so London people will see him around, and we'll have 'lols' and 'japes'.

Re: i give up(EDIT:in general chat)
I must say that I post so infrequently here and tend to lurk the gig section because I feel there is a 'clique' on here with their own in-jokes (office quotes etc, almost constantly it seems) that I don't fit in with or have anything to reply with... it doesn't feel like accessible conversation to me.
It's fair enough to have jokes and stuff with people you talk to a lot on here, but it is understandably difficult for new people (especially those who are not familiar with the office, lol) to join in.
If it were a bigger forum with more regular users then it'd be easier, but alas when nearly all of the regular posters are the people with the in-jokes, I don't get much out of it.
The only people I find easy to talk to on here are the people I have actually met in person and talked to properly.

I think the only people on here I've actually met in person are all the lads from The H.O.D, Gama Bomb and Evile camos, and Herzeleid. Thats it.

Regarding the forum becoming a "playground" where nobody likes thrash, I hear it's very similar on other forums, unless there is strict moderation like the Sonata Arctica forum, which therefore is pretty shit! The DragonForce forum suffered a similar fate, where most of the regular members lost interest in the band and got kicks out of harrassing the noobs. Of course, they were constantly asking the same noobish questions like "when's the next album out" or "when are they coming to my town?" which got a bit tiresome. There were even some annoying cunts who tried making discussion about shit bands like My Chemical Romance. One individual got her knickers in a twist after being slagged off for insisting that Lamb of God are the best band ever and as a result hacked the forum. Herman Li, who was admin at the time, decided to shut it down permanently about a couple of years ago as he was aware of our activites.
I'm bored, I should go to bed rather than write an essay on forum activities...
what scares me most is that you joined the dragonforce forum!!! Puts your 600 euro mistake into context now eh????
Be quiet! I used to love them and joined their forum for the same reason I joined this forum!
I made some really good friends on there and keep in regular contact with some of them outside of the forum

Re: i give up(EDIT:in general chat)
'Cliques' are inevitable amongst the main posters on any forum to an extent, but it's a shame if they dominate and put others off, which seems to be the point several people are making. I am also guilty of sporadic Office quotes, but I don't know what the solution is except repeating the "calm it down" rhetoric. I honestly think the place would be better if the top posters scaled down their general spamming a LOT, but that's a pretty impossible thing to enforce.
