I first heared em years ago back when MTV on digital (yeah, fucking years ago) and they had a show on every Tuesday called Super Rock. It was a shit show but every now and then they'd have good bands on. At the Gates came on one time so I bought the album because it was fucking heavy!

I have to say, I've never been a big fan of that style of vocals, but the music overshadowed that and I had a phase of listening to em quite alot.
I'd probably like more black metal bands if they didn't all sing like they had a fucking brick down their throats!!

I know, but I'm talking about the vocal style not the actual music.
I don't like the black metal vocal style... I don't know how I got from At the Gates to Black Metal vocals... maybe it's the newcastle brown talki... typing.

First time i saw ATG live was at an MTV sponsored gig at Nottingham Rock City, where they were second on a bill with Chorus Of Ruin, Anathema And MY Dying Bride. Talk about put a band on the wrong bill :wall: Maybe this is what you saw on MTV?????
Still, ATG were everything i could have hoped for. :D

I only have one ATG album, which is With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness.

I think it is pretty decent, but I just never listen to it - I find that everything I think is good about them can be satisfied by thrash bands already
