Ok, I try to answer this... First of all, back in the mid-80s I didn`t really liked any of the big german bands Kreator, Destruction, Holy Moses, Sodom. My favourites came from the Bay Area and I was more into the technical style. Especially Sodom and Kreator sounded somehow funny to me - rumbling, badly produced, over the top. Moreover I couldn`t stand the somehow childish attitude with names like Grave Violator, Angelripper,.., the outfits - look at Angelripper`s clothing and Beatles-haircut, and the "evil image" they tried to spread...

All in all they were really embarrassing to me and my teenage-buddies back in the 80s. I think there was a lack of self-irony in this. Another point was, a band that once got in the category "bullshit" never got out there again, which means, we never gave them a chance again...

At the end of the eigthies my interest in Thrash vanished and in the last 20 years I only followed the ways of Slayer, Megadeth an Metallica. About a year ago my metalheart got hit again and now I am into extreme metal more than ever! Meanwhile I discovered a lot of stuff from the eighties that thrashs me to the core...! Holy Moses for example I can`t get enough from today. To cut this long story - I tried to listen to the Sodom stuff several times - old and new stuff - and I can`t help, I just don`t like the vocals, the riffs sound monotonous and sterile to me, I find nothing catchy in it, and so on.. It`s funny, but other bands from that time, besides the german scene (Sepultura, Possessed, Voivod), I didn`t like 20 years ago, are no every day food to me..! Ok, I emphasize this is IMO!!!...and I`m an old man!

So, a big "Metal up your ass" to all Sodom-fans - support the "Ruhrpott-Thrash"!! Bobby rules!
And if you're not a metal head then you might as well be dead...
