I was far too lazy to have a paper round, but my brothers both did it for a year or so. I had to cover for one of them once over the Christmas period, I don't remember why. But basically it was farsical, it was snowing hard, and I snapped the key in the shed padlock so couldn't get the bike out. So I went and moaned in my parents' room, and my mum ended up driving me round the whole round in the car, at like 6am. I wasn't even any good with the car escort, I dropped a few in the soggy snow and ripped a few shoving them through letterboxes.

It certainly made me realise it was a ridiculous effort for £15 a week!!!

I used to paper round, the first one I ever did was the biggest disaster of my life. I turned up late, the papers were in order in the bag (because it was delivering subscribed national papers) and because these Sunday papers were so big, I just kept pulling out half of the paper and shoving that through a door. Anyway, about half the customers complained they had got the wrong paper, it rained the entire time and my bike chain fell off. I literally came home crying. It was awful. And doing papers before school in the darkness in winter is horrible, especially since I used to deliver to this house that had about 6 scary as fuck white cats with red eyes that used to sit in the bloody window gawping at you... still gives me nightmares.

I was a bit of a pro by the end though. Yeahhh.

Just do what I do and sit in your pants drinking John Smith's and the Government will pay you for it. Fair enough, you can't buy much but I have very little to buy that aren't expensive guitars I don't need.
