The best cover we ever did was 'Teenage Lobotomy' by the Ramones, everyone seemed to enjoy that much more than when we covered Slayer songs.

covers are great, i'd love to see support bands doing covers of the main bands songs hahaha

that would be awesome!

anyways, its fine to learn any songs as a band just for the practice (even slayer, megadeth, etc), but a live cover has gotta be well thought out and nicely done. we can play agent orange by sodom all the way through, maybe a good cover live :P

we fully did black metal justice as well dude \m/ yeah

i think that newer bands are better off using more covers in a set list to get attention; sadly, certainly for the first few gigs, you wont always get the recognition you deserve for playing home-brew thrash; its better to use more covers at that stage, then shift to more of your own material as people get to know it. still, a cover can be a nice surprise from larger bands as well!

When I first saw Xentrix play they used to do COTLOD (Testament) and
War inside my head (ST) which were fantastic and got us all going good style :rockdevil:

Then again I think the first time they were still Sweet Vengeance or is my brain become addled :?

Covers are decent if a band adds some of their own style into it, kinda just filling time otherwise. Can only hear Raining Blood so many times when the vox are trying to be Araya, and failing hard...

In my old band we often threatened to do that haha! Sadly it never happened.

Although in rehearsals now we regularly play 2 of Evile's songs, so who knows... might chuck in a surprise at Full Thrash Assault in September ;)
