I don't think there are really any bands that I used to like that I don't like any more...
When I get into a new band I tend to get into them massively, I'll listen to them loads over a short period of time and get really familiar with their stuff. There are a shite load of bands that I've never got into in a big way, bands that are reaaallly good, like Tankard for example, I love them but never really took the time to get albums and get into them properly.
My new favourite band who everyone has to check out is Strike Master from Mexico, they are just incredible. look on youtube for Thrashing the Blind School, and watch the video of them playing KIT.
Anyway I better go cause I'm sitting in quiet office and my belly is making weird noises and it sounds like I'm farting. I think I need a poo.

Re: How about some Thrash chat?
I find a lot of the thrash classics overrated (Bonded by Blood for example) and I think there are a lot better more obscure thrash bands. Often the bands that became more popular used sterile sounds that failed to capture the live energy or really promote any atmosphere. Thrash bands often seemed to use technicality for the sake of it, as opposed to DM bands like Morbid Angel or Deicide who used technical riffing to create a hellish maelstrom of sound.
Another issue for me is that a lot of thrash bands have quite a 'dry' riffing sound that lies in an unpalatable place between the glorious and epic melodies of speed metal (Agent Steel, Heathen, etc) and the controlled chaos of DM. Couple this with sterile productions designed to bring out every note perfectly, rather than echo the place/time they were recorded (as Destruction does so well) and you've got a genre that promises a lot, but fails to deliver. The fun/party atmosphere and lack of seriousness also fails to make the music chime with me in a long lasting way.
The best thrash records for me are those that overflow with aggression, energy and a degree of darkness: Schizophrenia/Beneath the Remains, Strappado, Immortal Force, Hell Awaits, Pleasure to Kill, etc.

Do you know who I think stand as a massively underrated thrash band?
Carnivore, I honestly cannot think of a thrash band that blended dynamics and gloom so well.
Not to mention his glorious lyrics.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

one album that hasn't aged well is Death Angel's "Act III" with all the slap bass and funky stuff -very Mordred.
but it still has a great tune "seemingly endless time" on it.

Nah, the new forumer has got it right. As I've already said in this thread, beyond The Ultra-violence I can truly leave Death Angel. There are a couple of alright songs but not many (Seemingly Endless Time being one such keeper-badboy).

I disagree - I think Act III is their best album (although not necessarily their thrashiest). "Frolic" was their weakest of the original lineup albums.
And if you get your hands on the original Mordred demos from '86 and '87 (before they went funky), they were a great thrash band. Well worth hunting down, although the sound quality's obviously not that good.
